SonoJot Trademark Policy
SonoJot’s code is open source under the Apache License 2.0. You may use, change, and share it. The name and logo are different: they tell people that a build comes from the SonoJot project. This policy explains how to use them without confusing anyone.
The marks
“SonoJot”, the SonoJot logo, and the SonoJot brand marks are trademarks of Cody Stevens Studio LLC (the “Studio”). The Apache License does not grant permission to use them (its section 6), and neither do the SonoJot Terms of Use.
Things you can do without asking
- Refer to SonoJot accurately. For example, in articles, reviews, tutorials, talks, and comparisons, or to say that your product “works with SonoJot” or “imports SonoJot transcripts”. Use only as much of the name as you need, and do not use the logo for this.
- Say where your fork came from. A fork may say “based on SonoJot” or “a fork of SonoJot” in its description and must keep the copyright and NOTICE attributions the Apache License requires.
- Link to sonojot.com or to the official repository.
- Share unmodified official releases under the Apache License, with the SonoJot name intact, as long as you do not suggest that you are the Studio, are endorsed by it, or offer official support.
Things you must not do
- Do not ship a modified version as SonoJot. If you change the code, or build and distribute your own binaries from changed code, give your version a different name and remove the SonoJot logo and icons. Also change the app identifier (
studio.codystevens.*), the update endpoint, and anything else that would make your build look like, or update as, official SonoJot. - Do not imply endorsement. Do not suggest that the Studio made, approved, sponsors, or supports your product, service, or fork.
- Do not use confusingly similar names. Do not use a name, logo, or domain that is likely to be confused with SonoJot, or use “SonoJot” in your product name, company name, app-store listing title, or domain name.
- Do not alter the logo or use it for anything other than referring to the official project, unless the Studio has given you written permission.
Questions and permission
To ask for permission or report misuse, email support@sonojot.com. The Studio may update this policy. Changes do not make earlier, compliant use improper.
